Happy New Year!

I know this blog is still very much in its infancy in terms of content and user-base (I'm the only one following my own site!); but a massive thank you to everyone and anyone who stumbled across my little corner and read the articles.

A thank you to FreshTies for letting me write for their site, and a thumbs up to Aaron of platform magazine: the free games do make me smile a lot!

So much more is coming in the new year so I'm looking forward to setting this one off properly :)

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 review

Arriving under the weight of the world's expectations, Activision marketing department has really done it's homework creating a thunderstorm of hype behind this title. The original created one of the best FPS titles of this generation; can Infinity Ward improve upon this prestige with Modern Warfare 2?

Avatar review

Ever since Goldeneye, we have never been graced with another stand out game adaptation of a movie. James Cameron’s Avatar most certainly…does not change this trend.

Left 4 Dead 2 review

The zombie apocalypse is back, and this time, the action has gone down south.

Like many of the “2’s” this holiday season, Valve has decided that “more is better,” and taken the same five campaign format as the previous iteration. Replay value comes from the AI director, who this time round takes control over paths that you take through a level as well as the flow of enemies and the regularity of first aid packs and ammo.

Brutal Legend Review

The camera zooms out and pans around an island of skulls, as a shredding guitar solo can be heard in the background. Epic heavy metal moments like this come courtesy of Brutal Legend. A new IP from the creative force behind the excellent but rather unpopular “Psychonauts.”

Colin McRae DiRT 2 review

I never expected Colin McRae DiRT 2 to be such a different and, ultimately, superior beast of a game then the original that came before it.

Don't go into the attic!

My time was up. I couldn't stay away from it anymore. The time came where I had to help my parents with the annual mega-cleanout. This included digging out all the attic clutter, including toys from my childhood; which my mum would complain about taking up space, yet still keep them because they make her reminisce about our childhoods (apparently all I did was cry so I still fail to see the point why she wants to remember)! It's one of those mysteries that I guess I have to be in the shoes of to truly understand; but I'm getting distracted. Such was last weekend's activities!

Metal Gear Solid 4 review

So here it is. The final chapter in this epic story; twenty years in the making. Hideo Kojima’s ‘last’ hurrah, available in a bargain bin in my local Gamestation for fifteen pounds. As a real geek for the Metal Gear Solid adventures I dived at the opportunity to give my newly purchased PS3 it’s killer app (yes I bought the fat version of the PS3; the slim line is ugly as sin)! The question in my mind being can it justify the unnaturally high critical appraise that has launched this game into the stratosphere like the iterations before it?
